Community Food Security & Food Access

Community Food Security means that all residents can obtain a safe, affordable, and nutritionally adequate diet through a food system that maximizes social justice and community participation in problem solving and decision-making.

Promoting food security can result in community and economic revitalization, a cleaner environment, lower energy use, urban greening, crime prevention, dietary improvement, plus farmland and family farm preservation.  Food can be a great connector, and when people connect to one another, they can make great change in their own places.
