Human Health

Factory Farms have been shown to cause substantial damage to human health. In addition to releasing a host of hazardous air and water pollutants known to compromise the health of workers and anyone living nearby, many factory farms misuse antibiotics, which promotes the proliferation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, decreasing the effectiveness of drugs used to treat humans.  In fact the public health threats created by factory farms are so substantial that the American Public Health Association issued a resolution urging federal, state, and local governments to impose a precautionary moratorium on the construction of new concentrated animal feeding operations.
